What we do
Prescott Trails Safety Coalition was formed to help address trail user concerns regarding their safe use of trails in the Prescott National Forest. Users from among the listed Team Members (see tab above) met to discuss issues that arise with all the various bikers, hikers, and horses using the trails.
Input for trail safety, courtesy, right-of-way, signage, hazards, conditions, and general trail interests were passed around the table to help find a consensus as to what might work for all the users. For the variety of people and perceptions, this was an enthusiastic undertaking and the PNF was instrumental in keeping our vision on the multitude of paths that needed to be integrated.
The final products, supported by the groups, were primarily educational in nature, including brochures, signage, the website, and initiating a Trail Ambassador Program. The discussions encompassed animals, recognition of other users, and how best to interact following standard YIELD courtesy on the trail.
We are proud of our Prescott National Forest and hope that those out on the trails can enjoy their experience with due regard for others they may encounter. May the Forest be with You!
